It's definitely not where you'd expect to charge a Porsche, but Electrify America has announced a partnership with Walmart to install charging stations across the country.

Perhaps the most important info from the article:

The partnership with Walmart makes sense because of the locations of the stores off major highways.

Some routes that will have plentiful chargers are Houston to Chicago via I-45, I-35 and I-44, San Antonio to St Louis via I-35 and I-44 and Washington DC to Savannah, GA via I-95.

Another piece of trivia, Electrify America has installed a new charger every 3 days for the past 11 months.

This is good news. If Electrify America eventually has chargers at many Walmart stores and Shell Gas stations the convenience will be great. Also may eventually cause competition amongst providers to keep charging rates low.

This a big step in the right direction to make electric vehicle use more accessible for everyone and allow people to travel farther. It's great that more companies aside from automakers are getting more involved with supporting electric vehicles. I wonder how many chargers will be available at each of the Walmart locations?

I suppose 2-3 chargers at each location with the option to add more if demand increases in any particular place. If a adequate electrical line is run to each bank of chargers initially more could be added quite easily in a short time.
