There has been some debate as to whether the Porsche Taycan will be a 4 seater or a 5 seater. Now it appears it will be neither. Or both...

Confused? WE are too.

In a recent discussion with experts in Norway, Porsche's Stefan Weckbach (the Vice President of the Taycan model line) revealed that the car will be a 4+1-seater.

So what exactly does that mean?

Well, it most likely means that it will technically be able to seat 5 people and will have 5 seatbelts, but that the additional 5th seat will effectively be useless.

For example, see the photo below of the BMW Individual 6 Series Gran Coupe BANG and OLUFSEN Edition, which was also billed as a 4+1-seater.

It's really not clear how there's a 5th seat at all, because there' certainly isn't room for a 5th person's legs.

Porsche also confirmed, for the first time, that the car will in fact make it's global debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

There should be a passthrough. Early EVs never had these because they used the space between the seats (and the trunk) for the batteries, but with the batteries all built into the floor, it shouldn't be an issue.

Here are some photos of the front and rear seats that we were able to take at the premiere. And good news! The rear seats can fold down!

From what's available on the configurator you can choose between "Power Seats (14-Way) with Memory Package" and "Adaptive Sport Seats (18-Way) with Memory Package for the front seats.

For the rear seats you can pick the optional "Rear 2+1 Seats"
