It might be a bit too early to set our expectations on accessories but having seen promotional pictures of the Taycan and the Taycan Cross Turismo, along with recent reports of Porsche starting to work with people outside of Porsche, this might be fitting after all. My guess is we'll see the typical range of accessories find their way over such as roof boxes, bike racks, floor mats, car covers and the most obvious of all, car care. Among all of that should we expect anything Taycan specific like in the picture below? It the first time i'm seeing such a low profile box. In addition to the fact it look specifically made for the TCT.

Kind in mind that roof racks and cargo boxes are going to result in a big drop in range. They've been known to dramatically reduce fuel economy, so I would imagine it will play out similarly for EV's. At least with the range of the Taycan, range anxiety still shouldn't become a concern. Looks like they are trying to redesign roof storage to make it more aerodynamic.

If you need the space and convenience of a roof box, do you really have a choice?
Range numbers produced by EV's today are already well beyond what most people need on a daily basis and the need does down even more as charging stations come online. In addition to charging speeds decreasing. However proper planning goes a long way.

If utility is a big concern, it might be better to hold off on going fully electric. A PHEV may be a better starting point until battery technology evolves further. Plenty of hybrid SUV's and crossovers on the market to choose from.

some people will have the money and patience to mess around with these and really test their stress points
I know someone who plans to keep his existing cayenne e-hybrid alongside a Taycan he has on order, just in case.

Here's what the roof box looks like on the Taycan.

I've been buying indoor and outdoor car covers for my cars from Covercraft for years. Highly recommend their covers. I actually called Covercraft and they expect to have Taycan car covers available around July-September timeframe.

I wonder how much range is affected by that roof rack attachment. Would be very interesting to eventually hear from others how their kWh/mi figure changes. On some cars, adding items on the roof can significantly impact fuel economy.
