Sadly got rid of my 2021 Taycan 4S

When I bought the 2021 Taycan 4S I thought this is a great car... and it is a great car when it actually works and is not in the shop. This is my 11th Porsche after many 911s and other cars such as the Macan and Cayman GT4. The problem is reliability... Like many of you my car has spent a lot of time in Porsche garages and they have taken care of me and provide Petrol cars as loaners but I have to say my disappointment is far bigger. This was a rushed car to the market and I get it but the software and reliability is just not worty of being branded of a Porsche. I traded my Taycan 4S - which by the way has lost a lof value because of its reliability problems in the market for a BMW IX. Really different car but also really different experience and range. I am actually getting on a long drive close to 340 miles with that car. But I won't go in details about this car. Long story short I have two deposits for Macan EV or whatever the brand name will be - these deposits were taken by my local dealer more than 6 months ago and I know there are delays and I am ok if they don't screw that one up. I am hopeful the PPE and the learnings from the Taycan will help them come back stronger but I am still bitter and disappointed because when it was not in the shop it was a great car and had a lot of fun driving it. Not GT3 fun but a great experience. Now please Porsche NA fix the software - hire the right people to do a better job at software - build the same reliability as your petrol cars and kick some butts. In the mean time I will enjoy a bug free experience and much better range but I am sadly not driving a Porsche at the moment. BTW - my car has spent a total of 3.5 months in the shop over two years of ownership. Problems I have had: central heating failure, multiple software glitches before and after the new experience, full stop loss of power, driver seat squealing and squeaking like it was a Lada seat (fully replaced bracket, motors, and other parts - the leather is the only thing still left from original), the 6 recalls, and when I traded it in the passenger seat had started to do the exact same thing as the driver seat but that is now someone else's problem. Sad story.

One thing that you don't mention that has been a bane of my existence . . . the navigation "system". It's so bad it's hard to imagine that they didn't make it that way on purpose. I've had it to the dealer three times and all my service rep will say is that "Porsche just doesn't do this kind of stuff very well."

Agreed - except most of the time I used Apple Carplay for navigation... the only times I used the Porsche Nav was for looking easily for charging stations and pre-condition the batteries. But because I didn't do as often for me while being a problem and a poorly design nav solution it didn't impact me as much.
I agreed in some of the issues, but it is also based on perspective. I switched from a RWD to a GTS and although I am thrilled with it, most of my drives are commuting and long trips where most of the GTS power is not needed. I am still under 500 miles and getting around 240 miles per charge, hopefully I'll get the 300 miles range as the RWD. I prefer to interact as less as possible with the displays, I miss physical buttons and sadly they won't be in the Taycan, but for me, Android Auto for navigation with voice control is all I need. If I could have a Taycan with analogical cluster display, I would be happy. I assigned the direct access button from the cluster information display for the HomeLink and the one on the steering for the Sport Sound, in this way you don't have to dig into the menu. The key is not too annoying for me, but the fact for opening the trunk and frunk you just have to push once, is basic mistake that could be easily solved with a long 2 sec hold or double click. I recognize the issues and software limitations, and for people looking for more software integration or automation, it can be a draw back.

I am sad to say, but I too have traded in my Taycan, a 2021 RW. The car was phenomenal to drive, but just had too many software issues (it kept wanting to switch back to German, pull up European maps among other issues) and lacked the range to be useful here in the Midwest. The lack of fast charging stations and having to charge out in the open in the rain and lighting when traveling did me in.
I will consider getting another electric car sometime in the future, when there are more fast charging stations and there are longer range batteries. Meanwhile, I am enjoying my new 2023 Panamera 4 Platinum Porsche.
