Tried to test drive a Porsche Taycan today and dealer said they’re only offering test drives to people who’ve paid deposits. I thought it was nuts that people are paying so much for a car they haven’t driven. Is this a NYC thing https://snaptube.cam/https://9apps.cam/?
Even Tesla service is better than this

Find another dealer. Most Porsche dealers are awesome but there are a few that employ yo-yo's. You were lucky enough to find the one to stay away from. My son and I had the same experience a few years ago. My son was ready to walk in and buy one - cash. Sales guy was the worst ever. Made my son so mad that he went and bought a Gran Sport staying away from Porsche entirely. Now the Gran Sport is no Porsche but holy cow that car was just awesome.

That’s bogus. They’re not goi g to sell them that way. On the other hand there’s been so much hype about performance maybe looki-loos are coming in just to play.

That's ridiculous that they'd turn down a test drive to a potential customer. You shoudn't have a problem finding another dealer in New York that'll let you go for a test drive.

In Germany, Tesla doesn't offer any test drives.
You can have a controlled tour with a Tesla guy sitting next to you.

Couple of years ago I went to a dealer and they had a GT3 RS and I asked for a test drive. The manager said "the kind of people who can afford this car do not need to drive it to decide to buy it, clearly you cannot afford it". Which ticked me off so I went home and put a longer and more detailed story fo what happened on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. 4 days later the owner of the dealership called me to apologize and told me to stop by for a test drive. I went and drove it but ended up not liking it as much, plus the experience had soured me on the dealership, so I went and got me a McLaren instead. Dealers who behave like this risk business.

This is absurd. I requested a test drive, and the folks at Pfaff Porsche near Toronto leant me a vehicle for 30 hours. Without that experience, I wouldn’t have pulled the trigger to buy one. Go somewhere else.
