Porsche has dropped a few hints that reference what we could be seeing in terms of trim levels for the Taycan. There are 3 reported variants ,which include the Base, 4S and Taycan Turbo. I think the naming on the top end trim is quite confusing and anyone whos considering buying one has done their research on electric powertrains.

Porsche is at a tough spot, they're known for selling driver focused vehicles and battery-electric hasn't always followed that path. Convincing Porsche fans that this is the way forward resulted in using ICE wording.

Personally, I think calling it an e-Turbo was the better approach, everyone knows its battery-electric, why hide that fact?

With the times we are seeing from rapid chargers and the ability to plug in at home, I don't think the range loss would have a big impact on practicality. We also haven't heard much about the kind of energy recuperation that the Taycan is capable of.

Next up will be more convenient home charging systems that are completely wireless.

Once that happens you can bet that premium retailers for everything from clothes to coffee will use it as an incentive to lure premium EV buyers.
