Just received a notice from Porsche of North America that my early build 2020 Taycan 4S needs to have the front bumper replaced because of issues with the "reinforced weld joints". Porsche will replace it with a bumper having reinforced welds. It appears to be a production error where the welds do not meet specifications. Only cars with a specific VIN seem to be affected, since my VIN was specifically included.
No mention whether the new bumper will be installed primed and then painted here in the USA, or a factory pre-painted bumper will be swapped out; it is likely the former. In any case I don't think there will be an exact color match as it would be when the car is robotically painted completely assembled at the factory, especially at the hood-bumper junction. Since I could not live with a mismatch, I don't believe I will go through with this recall and take my chances.
