Porsche Taycan Deliveries Might Be Delayed

It turns out that there could be delivery delays for the Taycan. A reservation holder from Norway posted on the Taycan Facebook Group that they received an email saying there could be an 8- to 10-week delivery delay.

Here's what Porsche told him in the email:

"Taycan is our first fully electric sports car. The car is developed from scratch and manufactured in a brand new factory. All Porsche employees have worked with full pressure to start delivering Taycan as scheduled in January. Still, as a result of the enormous complexity surrounding the production of Taycan, we must report that unfortunately the delivery dates are somewhat delayed.

We currently expect delays of around eight to ten weeks, and a new production time for your car will be communicated through your seller as soon as this is ready. We strongly apologize and guarantee that we will do everything we can to deliver your Porsche Taycan as soon as possible."
Has anyone else received an email like this? It might be something to check with dealers about.

That maybe explains why my Porsche Rep hasnt opened up the order books yet.. I dont think we will get an email here in the US if we havent officially placed an order yet. Still a waiting game here on my end for my dealer to get its allocation and call me up to secure a placement/car

That would make sense if they haven't done that. Hopefully they give you some kind of an update.
The issue could be specific to Europe and not impact the US. Curious that we haven't heard anything from Porsche yet about a possible delay in the US.
I just received my allocation from the dealer (in USA) and ordered a 4S two days ago. They said April or May but I don’t think they actually know.
Another person posted in the Facebook Group about their delivery status. This time it's a person in the UK.

UK Delivery update. I have a Turbo S on order. I spoke to my dealership today and had an interesting update from him.

The dealer team has just returned from a training exercise in Minorca where they got the chance to drive the car around a track and he was full of excitement about how good the car was. I was very envious!

I asked him for an update. He said of the 11 Turbo S order demands he had on the system, so far they had only received one allocation and that was for delivery in February. He had half a dozen Turbo order demands but so far no allocations. However, he had only 4 4S orders but had received 6 allocations! So if you want a Taycan soon, order a 4S! It seems odd that Porsche would prioritise the 4S over the more expensive cars.

He was hoping to get some more news in December.

He said that if I was to order a Turbo S now I might be looking at close to a 2 year wait.
Another update from someone waiting for their Taycan 4S order in the New York. Apparently the original delivery date was supposed to be March 2020 and now it's been moved to April.

This was posted on Facebook too.
