A Porsche dealer screen revealed vehicle codes for the upcoming Taycan GTS.

"If you want a high-performance Porsche but can't quite stretch to a model with 'Turbo' on the back of it, the GTS models fill this gap perfectly. In fact, we'd argue that they offer all the performance you could reasonably exploit on public roads without the high price tag of a Turbo. However, although models like the 718 Cayman and Cayenne are offered in GTS guise, there is no sporty GTS version of the Taycan EV - at least, not yet.

An eagle-eyed Porsche customer who ordered a new Taycan 4S Cross Turismo recently saw something revealing at a Porsche dealership. The customer, who goes by the name Thorgal, was busy with the order process for their new Taycan when the salesman briefly left the screen he was working on unattended.

Within that time, Thorgal noticed the vehicle codes for two new Porsche models on the screen: a Taycan GTS and a Sport Turismo Taycan GTS. When Thorgal later asked the salesman about it, he reluctantly admitted that these two Taycans are indeed on the way although a specific launch date has not been decided. They will likely be 2022 models, though. This means that GTS-badged Taycans could plug the performance gap between the Taycan 4S and the Taycan Turbo/Turbo S.

It's little surprise that the GTS badge would find its way onto an EV. After all, automakers increasingly want their EV vehicles to be seen as viable options for the keen driver; AMG versions of the Mercedes EQ range are coming and VW's new ID.4 GTX is considered an EV counterpart to the Golf GTI."
