The countdown to Formula E is on and Porsche is well prepared for the series. In December we'll get to see it in action and hopefully learn of tech our Taycan's might share with the electric racer.

Countdown to the start for Porsche in the all-electric race series
Stuttgart. Preparations continue apace for Porsche’s first race in Formula E: since officially announcing a works entry in the 2019/2020 ABB FIA Formula E world championship in April 2018, the sports car manufacturer has already hit a number of key milestones – with more to follow. Porsche is launching a series of infographics to document the path to the all-electric race series: the “Road to Formula E”. Available in the Porsche Newsroom, this will be updated with interesting information from month to month as the Season 6 race debut in December of this year draws closer.

Fritz Enzinger (Vice President Porsche Motorsport): “When the Porsche Board of Management made the decision to enter Formula E in 2019/2020, we started to chart our course. When I look back over recent months, I am very proud of what we have achieved within the team. We have successfully completed the first steps: the first test phase for the Porsche powertrain on the test bench, the announcement of Neel Jani as the first driver, the construction of the Porsche Formula E car, rolling this out on the test track in Weissach and completing more than 1,000 kilometres of testing at “Circuit Calafat” in Spain. We still have plenty to do before the works entry in Formula E. We are confident that we are on the right track.”

It looks like Porsche's Formula E car will be revealed on August 28 on Twitch as part of some live video-game called "Formula E Unlocked".

On August 28, at 6 p.m. (CEST), everyone is challenged to unveil the Porsche Formula E car for Season 6 of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship by taking part in a custom-created live video game, “Formula E Unlocked” on Twitch, the leading service and community for multiplayer entertainment. The video game will last for several hours.

"Formula E Unlocked" will see Porsche and Twitch engage people from all over the world to work together to complete the game and unveil the Porsche Formula E vehicle. Never before has an unveiling been placed completely in the hands of an audience in this way.

The two Porsche works drivers, Neel Jani and André Lotterer, are at the heart of the game and will be guided in real time by the community through the winding Porsche premises, in search of the car.

Porsche and Twitch send the digital community on a search for clues
"Formula E Unlocked" will see the worldwide Twitch community guide Jani and Lotterer through the game in real time - overcoming hurdles and completing puzzles and challenges to unlock the Porsche Formula E vehicle. Community spirit is essential in the game as successfully unveiling the Porsche Formula E car is only achievable together.

"Formula E Unlocked" was designed with Twitch and is based on a live video production in Porsche premises.

Further information as well as the registration for the game can be found here: twitch.tv/porsche
Here's what the car is going to look like! Porsche is calling it the 99X Electric. Porsche is calling the powertrain the E-Performance Powertrain and it builds on the success of the 919 Hybrid LMP1 race car.

It will apparently share some similarities with the Taycan by using an 800-Volt electrical system and a permanent synchronous motor.
