This time it has to do with the control module for the electrically adjustable steering column. Porsche is unable to get adequate supply of them will resort to fitting a manually adjustable steering column to the following models.
While Porsche has zero control over this situation, I believe they will lose a lot of orders for vehicles that have already been placed. When you are paying as many $$$$ as you are for a Porsche, you don’t want a “junky” manually adjustable steering column.
I ordered a new Macan in late January and the dealer was clear that the steering column would be Manuel (on our 2020 Macan it's electric). While I don't think it should be that of a big deal on the larger cars, for the Taycan the steering wheel adjusting to get in and out is almost a necessity. Meanwhile the wiring harnesses for the Taycan and Macan are reported to be built in Ukraine.
