Apparently these are patent images of a future Porsche hypercar based off the 917 Concept they showed about a year ago.

Here's the Here's the 917 concept for reference. Definitely similar.

My guess is this new 917 is a hybrid, not a full EV. There are exhaust pipes after all.

I just saw some other report claiming that it will be called the Porsche 960.

After what they were able to do with the 918 I don't blame them for wanting to stick with a hybrid format.

That's a good point. Were they planning on competing in the new Le Mans hypercar class?

It sure seems like they'll be competing in that class for the 2020-2021 season. Along with Toyota that showed off its GR Super Sport concept that's much like this one. I hope that's the case as it means the actual 918 successor should be a road going version of this Le Mans racer.

GTPlanet just reported on it and apparently they reached out to Porsche for further comment. While they'll likely get an answer, I doubt it will be anything that reveals what's going on behind the scenes.
