A new study lead by a professor at the University of Toronto claims that converting all cars and SUVs in the Greater Toronto Area into EVs would cause 313 fewer deaths per year, an estimated social benefit of $2.4 billion.

The researchers then created computer simulations for three scenarios, replacing 20%, 50%, or 100% of all cars and SUVs in the GTHA to EV. They also modeled the effect of switching transit buses to electric buses. The economic or societal benefits were converted to dollar figures using a method called Value of Statistical Life.

I am sorry.. but this must be the one of the top all-time dumbest articles by Electrek .. let's face it.. none of us who buy/own a Taycan or any other $70K+ EV will ever break even on the car/charging costs/maintenance/upkeep/battery replacement due to degradation/ect.. With Porsche and other Legacy OEMs continuing their trend of refresh cycles on their EV lineups .. count me in personally for "refresh purchases" and taking a hit on my 1st Taycan Turbo due to depreciation upon trade-in.
