I just read on AutoCar that despite what CEO Oliver Blume said recently, the Macan gas version will live on.
If you recall, in a recent interview posted on the Porsche press site he said "the new generation of the Macan will be purely electric."
How he's clarified that (and backtracked) saying “The petrol-engine Macan will continue to be produced alongside the new electric PPE-based Macan in Leipzig. There will be a transition time, but just how long that will be has not yet been determined."
“The move to a fully electric model line-up is suitable for certain markets but, due to a lack of infrastructure and other hurdles, it is yet not possible in other markets. We are constantly monitoring the situation and can react accordingly."
The Macan EV (likely to have it's own name) will be the 3rd fully electric Porsche after the Taycan and Taycan Cross Turismo. With the Taycan set to debut in September and deliveries in January 2020, the Cross Turismo will arrive at the end of 2020. The Macan EV will go into production "early in the next decade" so look for it to come sooner than you might expect.
