Car goes into park

3546 Views 21 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  Janie2022
I have a 2022 Tacan Turbo S. Having issues with the car shifting into park after sitting at a long light. I don’t know it is happening until i am ready to move forward, and then realize I can’t because I am in Park instead of Drive. This has happened several times but can’t figure out why.

Has anyone heard of this problem?

Doors fully closed?

Yes- all three times were at a long traffic light. About 2 minutes long

i asked the dealership to see if they have heard of this in the past and if not to please call the factory for insight.
Well, good luck. Never heard this.

I thought about doors and sensors b/ only way I know to get from D into P w/o pushing the button is to open a door.
Hence, maybe a door sensor is sick.
this is being discussed on another forum, I don't know much about the issue but apparently it is happening to others also
I have a 22 CT 4S and have taken it to the dealership several times. They keep telling me all the systems check out and there is no error code so they can’t do anything. It’s happened to me about three separate times

Didn't know that there was another Taycan forum. Please let me know how to access it/them.

If you press twice on break it will put the car on hold. You will see the hold light. After extended time on hold I believe it will switch to park.

Yes doors fully closed nobody exited car. Typically coming off highway and waiting at a stoplight when it happens

My Taycan CT goes into a “hold” that releases when you step on the accelerator. I believe this is a safety feature.
The "Hold" function is somewhat different. It's a convenience feature to hold your car at a traffic light.
Also, it's nice to really quickly start.

But "Hold" is not "Park".

That seemed like a good theory, so I tried to duplicate it on purpose. I waited about 4 minutes in "HOLD" and nothing happened.
I tried as well and did not happened to me. Not sure why it has happening to me from time to time, hopefully the dealer will find out the issue.

I had my Taycan in for issue with internal alarm going off. Told them about the issue with HOLD switching to PARK. They did a hard reset to fix that issue. So far so good. Time will tell is it occurs again but they felt it was fixed. Only happened to me twice and the second time was day before service.

They need to do a reset. I had it happen twice on my car. After reset it’s fine.

I was incorrect. It needs a reset if it happens. Since then I had it corrected at dealer.

my 22 4S has shifted into park a couple of times. Maybe it is normal behavior if sitting in HOLD for sometime, can anyway confirm this?

According to my salesman it is not normal. Tech reset the software and so far it is not an issue.

This is incorrect. I consulted my salesman and he said this is not normal. Tech did a reset to get rid of this issue. So far so good.
