I couldn't see this brought up before but I may have missed it.
The wife shuts down the car....exits....and by the time she's getting some things out of the trunk the car comes back on.
So....she has to go around, open the door, and shut it off again.
Anyone else seen this?

Have not seen that before. Is she depressing the power button long enough to make sure the car is off?

As Passgas mentions the power off button needs to be pressed for a couple of seconds in order to fully switch the car off.. Its caught me out several times - i do a single quick button press as I open the door but the car does not power fully off, so I have to reach back in and press for about 2 seconds. Not saying this is the exact issue you are dealing with but its worth checking.
