Dear all Taycan owners, advice needed please….I’m due to take imminent delivery of a CT4 which was ordered 16 months ago (and initially indicated as a 12 month wait). The car has (finally) been built, but has been sitting in Germany pending resolution of the heater QC issue (as one of a “batch” of Taycans). I’m now faced with 2 options:
1. Accept the car and open myself up to all the issues the unfortunate many have experienced. Also, after such a delay it’s now a 3 year old model and apart from the ongoing quality issues, the expected hit in residual will be much larger compared to option 2.
2. Transfer the deposit to the facelifted/updated model which will inevitably be due within the usual Porsche 4 year cycle.
To be fair, after such a long wait (as ridiculous as it sounds) I’m fully prepared to make do for another 10-12 months! After waiting so long thus far, I’m reluctant to take delivery of a car that has a1980’s Peugeot-esque electronics reputation.
Any sage words greatly appreciated!

My opinion is that you are waaaaay overthinking this. The Taycan is an awesome vehicle that is a joy to drive. I own a 2020 Taycan Turbo and it fantastic. A friend of mine owns a 2022 Taycan CT4 and he is thrilled with it.

You seem to not be attaching any value to your being able to drive such a great vehicle starting in the very near future. Life can be short - - why defer gratification for a year or more?

and why all the worry about residual value? Are you not planning to keep your Taycan for a long time? If you don’t think you’ll keep it long then I suggest you don’t buy a new Taycan. Go out right now and buy a used Taycan where the first owner takes the depreciation hit and you pay less out of pocket.

So my advice is either take delivery of the one you ordered now or cancel that order and buy a used Taycan now. Either way you should start enjoying ownership of a Taycan now, not in the future.

You never hear from owners who have no problem with their Taycans. Why? Because they are out enjoying their Taycan and living life. I think it's the majority of them. Forums are full of negativity bias and sensational remarks. You've to guage for yourself how much you're believing in Taycan product engineering, the Porsche organization, and local dealer network in ensuring a satisfying ownership experience.

As a very satisfied owner of a 2020 4S, I can attest the fact that it is one of the best, most trouble free cars I have ever owned. I plan to keep it for at least 8 years, when the battery warrantee expires.
