Porsche shared this poll on Facebook asking if people prefer the Taycan's fixed aluminium roof or the panoramic roof. If money wasn't an option I'd definitely go with the panoramic roof because I think it looks great. But if I was ordering a Taycan I'd probably use the money for something else ($1,490).

For those who have placed orders or and preparing to, would you spend the extra money on the panoramic roof?

Here's some additional information on the panoramic roof from Porsche for anyone who's interested.

The panoramic fixed glass roof: a clear view without distracting roof bows

Due to its flat construction, the panoramic fixed glass roof blends harmoniously into the silhouette. Transverse bows were not required. This means the continuous area of the roof in the new Taycan measures one square metre, and as such provides an even more pleasant feeling of space and airiness. It is also possible to use a Porsche roof transport system.

For the first time in a Porsche, low-emissivity thermal insulation glass is used for the panoramic fixed glass roof. Several wafer-thin metal layers are applied to the insulating glass. As the thermal insulation glass allows short-wave radiation to pass through and reflects long-wave infra-red radiation, the vehicle interior will heat up more slowly in summer. This also means that the heat in the interior is retained longer in winter. In combination with the glass tint, it was therefore possible to dispense with a roller blind. An intermediate layer in the glass structure also provides acoustic insulation for the interior.

Does.anybody know if there will be an electric sliding sunroof option with the metal roof? I live in Southern California and use mine on my 911 Turbo all of the time. I would miss it even with the panoramic roof.
haven't heard anything about a sunroof yet.. i wouldnt be surprised if builds after June 2020, when the metal roof becomes standard and glass becomes option, a sunroof will be an option to the metal roof.

You may have heard the story of the 6'8" guy who bought a Corvette after a test ride with the T-tops off and after driving around in the great weather for a week found that he couldn't fit in the car with the T-tops on. That is probably urban legend. This isn't. I live in Fort Lauderdale and three years ago I test drove a Tesla with the glass roof. It was in late March at around 11a; not high summer in the middle of the afternoon. The Tesla had no interior way to block out the sun and Tesla offered nothing as an option to do so. After 5 minutes my shaved head felt like it was in a pizza oven. The Tesla salesman sheepishly admitted that he had lost several buyers because of the heat issue. I don't know if Porsche has done anything to address this problem, but I STRONGLY suggest anyone getting the panoramic roof consider the issue.

So, for anyone looking to order their Taycan with the aluminum roof, you're going to have to wait until June. All the initial production orders will be equipped with the panoramic roof.

This notification is popping up when you open the configurator.
